Create a multi-channel campaign with the AI Campaigner

With the AI Campaigner you turn a single topic description into a complete multi-channel campaign: blog articles, social media posts, video scripts, and newsletters — all in one pass, all optimized for their respective platform.

This guide walks you through, step by step, how to create a campaign in the WaaS backend, which settings are available, and what happens after you click “Generate”.

What it’s about

Classic content production means: come up with a topic, write a blog article, then repackage the same content multiple times for LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and your newsletter. That takes time — and platform-specific quality often suffers, because for lack of time the same text just gets copy-pasted.

The AI Campaigner turns this around: you describe your topic once, you pick your target channels once — and you get a specifically optimized draft back for every channel you chose. You review, polish, and publish. Nothing goes live automatically — you stay in full control at every point.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the WaaS backend with the rights to create a campaign
  • A clear topic or an existing text to base the campaign on
  • Optional: well-maintained entries in your knowledge base (see Step 6)

Step 1: Navigate to the AI Campaigner

In the WaaS backend you’ll find the “AI Campaigner” section in the left navigation (or, depending on configuration, under “Content”).

Click the entry — you’ll see an overview of all campaigns created so far. On your first visit, the list is empty.

Click ”+ New” in the top right. The form for creating a new campaign opens.

Step 2: Choose the mode

First, you pick the mode in which the AI Campaigner should work:

AI Author — “Write me something about topic X”

You enter only a short topic description. The AI Campaigner researches and writes independently.

Suitable for:

  • Current industry topics you want to pick up on
  • Seasonal content (subsidies, deadlines, time-of-year references)
  • Topics you don’t have your own material for

Example input: “Write a post about the new subsidies for photovoltaics in Bavaria, focusing on commercial systems.”

AI Lector — “Turn my text into multi-channel content”

You provide an already-written text — such as your own research, a press release, an internal whitepaper, or an interview transcript. The AI Campaigner reworks the style, restructures it, and derives all further content formats from it.

Suitable for:

  • Existing content that you want to push out on additional channels
  • Long documents that need to be condensed for social media
  • Texts whose content is locked in, but whose tone needs to be reworked for external communication

Example input: Your complete research report as full text in the content field.

💡 Rule of thumb: If you know the topic but don’t have the text yet → AI Author. If the text is ready but you want to push it across multiple channels → AI Lector.

Step 3: Enter the content

Depending on the mode you chose, you fill in the content field differently:

  • AI Author: One to a maximum of three sentences that clearly outline the topic. Better concrete than rambling (“Subsidy for commercial PV systems in Bavaria from 2026” is better than “something about solar”).
  • AI Lector: The complete source text. There’s no hard length limit — typically, anything between 500 and 10,000 words works well.

Tip: Even in AI Author mode you can include a few bullet points that absolutely must show up (e.g. a number, a name, a USP). Note them in the topic field alongside the description.

Step 4: Set the campaign goal

Pick one of four goals — this influences tone, structure, and the call-to-action of the generated content:

GoalWhen it makes sense
Knowledge TransferYou want to share knowledge, educate, build trust through expertise.
Employer Branding / RecruitingYou’re addressing potential employees — culture, values, open positions.
Product AdvertisementYou’re promoting a product or service with a clear sales focus.
Company NewsYou’re communicating a company update — new location, award, partnership.

You can pick exactly one goal per campaign. If you need both a recruiting and a sales post from the same topic, create two campaigns.

Step 5: Set a call-to-action

Every generated piece of content closes with a call-to-action — a button-like prompt that sends readers to a specific page.

Fill in:

  • Button text — e.g. “Request a consultation”, “Learn more”, “View the job posting”
  • Target URL — the page the button links to (e.g. your contact page, a landing page, or a job ad directly)

The CTA appears in all content formats at a fitting spot — in the blog article usually at the end, in social media posts adapted accordingly (e.g. “Link in bio” on Instagram, a clickable link on LinkedIn).

⚠️ Important: Make sure the target URL actually exists and is reachable for visitors. The AI Campaigner doesn’t check the URL’s content.

Step 6: Select knowledge base entries (optional)

Every WaaS backend has its own knowledge base, where you can maintain company-specific content. Typical entries are:

  • Your company history and your USPs
  • Product specifications
  • Brand language and tone of voice (e.g. “We use first names”, “We address an expert audience”)
  • Target audience profiles
  • Frequently used phrasings
  • Reference articles or sources you regularly cite

When you create a campaign, you specifically pick from this knowledge base which entries should feed into the campaign. The selected content is passed to the AI Campaigner as context — so it knows your tone, your products, and your language.

Screenshot: Selection dialog for knowledge base entries, with checkboxes per entry.

Practical tip: Set up the knowledge base cleanly once — after that, picking two to four matching entries per campaign is enough. This significantly improves the quality of the outputs.

You don’t have any entries in your knowledge base yet? Reach out — we’ll help with the initial setup and handle the first import.

Step 7: Pick content types

Pick from the available content types what should be generated. You can choose any combination — as few or as many per campaign as you need.

Content typeWhat you get back
Blog PostComplete article with headlines, lists, paragraphs, image suggestions, meta title, meta description, and focus keywords
LinkedIn PostEngagement-optimized post for your LinkedIn profile
Instagram PostPost text, a recommendation on whether a carousel makes sense, plus image concepts
Instagram Story / ReelScript for a short video following Instagram best practices
TikTokScript for a TikTok video
YouTube ShortsScript for a YouTube Shorts video
YouTube VideoLong-form script for a longer video (interview, brand video, product presentation)
NewsletterSubject line including an A/B variant, newsletter text, and image suggestions

💡 Recommendation to get started: Begin with Blog Post + LinkedIn + Newsletter. This covers the most common channels and is easy to evaluate. Expand the selection once you have a feel for the quality.

Step 8: Generate

Click “Generate campaign”. In the background, the AI Campaigner starts up — depending on the number of content types you picked, the process usually takes between 1 and 5 minutes.

Screenshot: Status display during generation with progress feedback.

You don’t need to stay in the browser during generation — the campaign keeps running even if you close the backend. As soon as the content is ready, it appears in the campaign’s detail view.

Step 9: Review and publish content

Once generation is complete, you’ll find all content in the campaign’s detail view:

  • Blog Post can be automatically created as a draft in your blog (status “Draft”). You can open it directly from the campaign, apply the final polish, and publish.
  • Social media posts, newsletter, video scripts live directly in the campaign. You copy the text into your respective publishing tool (LinkedIn, Instagram, Mailchimp, etc.) and publish from there.

⚠️ Important: Nothing is published automatically. There’s always a review step between generation and going live. That’s by design — quality control stays with you at every point.

What we recommend you check

  • Facts: Are the numbers, dates, and names correct?
  • Tone: Does the text sound like your company? If not: add suitable entries to the knowledge base for the next campaign.
  • CTA: Does the target URL work? Does the button text fit the respective channel?
  • Images: The image suggestions are proposals — you pick the actual image yourself.

What else you should know

Monthly volume limit

Your campaign generations are counted per month. The Performance package includes 100 campaigns per month. If you hit that limit, the feature is temporarily restricted — a paid top-up is possible at any time. Reach out if you can foresee needing more campaigns.

How long does a generation take?

Rule of thumb: about 30 to 60 seconds per content type. A campaign with a Blog Post + 3 social posts + Newsletter typically takes 3 to 5 minutes. Complex topics with lots of knowledge base context can take a bit longer.

Can I add content types after the fact?

Currently, you decide on the content types when creating the campaign. If you later want, for example, an Instagram post for an already-generated blog article, you can edit the created campaign, select the additional platforms, and the content for the selected platforms will be regenerated.

Can the AI Campaigner generate images?

The AI Campaigner provides image suggestions and image concepts — descriptions of which image would fit the respective content. The images themselves you create or source. If you’re interested in automatic image generation, reach out — that’s on our roadmap.

Privacy: what goes where?

Your inputs (topic description, full text in AI Lector mode if applicable, selected knowledge base entries) are sent to our AI provider. Details are in the DPA (Data Processing Agreement) and in the subprocessor list.

⚠️ Please note: Don’t enter any personal data of third parties in topic descriptions, source texts, or knowledge base entries that you’re not authorized to share. General content about your company, your products, and your target audiences is fine.

Editing prompts

The internal prompts the AI Campaigner works with per channel are centrally maintained by us and are continuously optimized. Direct editing of the prompts by you isn’t supported — that’s by design: it’s how we ensure platform-specific quality. If you feel a particular output regularly doesn’t fit, let us know. We’ll adjust the prompts centrally.

FAQ

How is the AI Campaigner different from the AI Assistant? The AI Assistant is your universal helper for individual tasks in the backend — e.g. “write a meta description” or “translate this paragraph”. The AI Campaigner, by contrast, is specialized for one clear workflow: turning a topic into a complete multi-channel campaign in one step. The two complement each other.

What does the AI Campaigner cost? Nothing extra — it’s a standard part of your Performance package. 100 campaigns per month are included.

Can I save campaign drafts without generating them? Yes. You can save the form as a draft at any time — generation only starts when you click “Create campaign”.

Are the generated contents automatically created in my language versions? If you have a multilingual website and want to push the same content out in multiple languages, create a separate campaign per language.

Can I see other users’ campaigns? Yes, provided you have the appropriate permissions in the backend. That’s also the default — a campaign is team content, not a personal draft.

What happens if generation fails? You’ll see an error notice in the campaign. In most cases, clicking “Create campaign” is enough. If the error persists, contact us with the campaign ID — we’ll dig into the logs.
